World No. 7 Tomas Berdych has been presented the Fair Play Trophy at the 2012 Power Horse World Team Cup in Dusseldorf.
The Czech received a sculpture, from the Hornemann jewellers, by Thomas Königsbauer, the CEO of the title sponsor Power Horse, and Tournament Director Dietloff von Arnim. "Tomas is a player who is always quiet, relaxed and modest both on and off court," said von Arnim. "His fair and perfect manners makes him a role model for youngsters."
Berdych said, "Thanks very much for the support. It’s a great honour for me being a part of the group of exceptional players. This is the first time I received a trophy like this and it is a really nice experience for me."
The Czech was selected by an international jury of tennis journalists and the captains of the eight nations competing at the Rochusclub. Berdych follows in the footsteps of Robin Soderling and Philipp Kohlschreiber, who received the award in 2011.
