Kohlmann/Mayer Beaten In Kitzbühel

Doubles 2012

Poles Tomasz Bednarek and Mateusz Kowalczyk upset third-seeded Germans Michael Kohlmann and Florian Mayer 6-1, 6-2 in 48 minutes on Monday at the bet-at-home Cup Kitzbühel.

Five of the 10 points that Bednarek and Kowalczyk lost on their serves were double faults. The pair recently won two ATP Challenger Tour doubles titles at Kosice and Brauschweig.

They go onto face Dick Norman and Alexander Waske, who won 72 per cent of their service points to defeat Spaniards Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo and Albert Ramos 7-6(2), 6-2 in 77 minutes.

Wild cards Philipp Kohlschreiber and Stefan Tumphart edged past Lukas Rosol and Horacio Zeballos 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 in 84 minutes.

At the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles, one half of this year’s Wimbledon doubles champions came crashing down to earth. Jonathan Marray, who picked the grass-court Grand Slam title with Frederik Nielsen, was partnering Colin Ebelthite at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament.

Germans Tobias Kamke and Bjorn Phau beat the second seeds 6-2, 1-6, 11-9 in 65 minutes.
