Mirnyi/Azarenka Named Top Seeds In Olympic Mixed Doubles

Belarusians Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi have been named top seeds in the mixed doubles at the London 2012 Olympics Tennis Event. The combined ranking cut-off for direct entry was World No. 37.

The mixed doubles competition was last contested in 1924. Americans Richard Williams, a Titanic survivor, and the founder of the Wightman Cup, Hazel Wightman, won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Americans Liezel Huber amd Bob Bryan are second seeds with Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan as No. 3 seeds. Poles Agnieszka Radwanska and Marcin Matkowski are No. 4 seeds.

ITF places were awarded to Britons Andy Murray and Laura Robson, Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur of Australia; Russians Mikhail Youzhny and Elena Vesnina, and Robert Lindstedt and Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden.

First round matches are due to be played on Wednesday, 1 August, 2012.
