Daniel Nestor received an honourary Doctor of Laws degree from York University, recognising his dedication to Canadian tennis and his on-court achievements. York University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri, presented the Canadian legend with the degree in a special ceremony Tuesday in Toronto.
Nestor and partner Max Mirnyi are the top seeds this week at the Rogers Cup held at the Rexall Centre, which shares the same campus with York University.
The 39 year old will be looking to win his 80th doubles title and third in Toronto. Nestor, who made his tournament debut in 1989, captured the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title in 2000 (w/Laureau) and ’08 (w/Zimonjic).
