Second seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan rallied from a set down to beat No. 8 seeds Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 in the quarter-finals of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati on Friday. The American twins have won 11 straight matches.
After converting a late break to win the second set, the Bryans surged ahead in the Match Tie-break to claim victory in 75 minutes. The two are seeking their fourth title at the Lindner Family Tennis Center and will face fourth seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau next.
The Swedish/Romanian duo edged seventh-seeded Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 7-6(3), 7-6(2) to avenge their Rogers Cup semi-final loss to the Spaniards. Lindstedt and Tecau are bidding to win their fourth title of the season following triumphs in Bucharest, ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Bastad.
Sixth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna topped No. 3 seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 in 73 minutes. The victory gave the Indian pair back-to-back wins for the first time since reaching a semi-final showing at the Mutua Madrid Open.
For a place in the final, Bhupathi and Bopanna will play Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo, who dismissed Andreas Seppi and Viktor Troicki 6-0, 6-1. The Croatian/Brazilian tandem capitalised on five of their eight break points to advance in just 39 minutes.
Dodig and Melo reached the final of the ATP World Tour 500 event in Memphis on their team debut in February.
