Fourth seeds Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau knocked out No. 2 seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 7-5, 6-7(5), 10-2 in the semi-finals of the Western & Southern Open on Saturday in Cincinnati.
Lindstedt and Tecau fired 17 aces, taking 82 per cent of their service points en route to upsetting the three-time champions in one hour and 34 minutes.
The Swedish/Romanian duo are looking to win their first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title together. They finished runner-up at the Mutua Madrid Open (l. to the Fyrstenberg/Matkowski) earlier this season.
In the final, Lindstedt and Tecau will face sixth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna, who defeated Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo 6-4, 6-3. The Indian pair won 82 per cent of their first serve points and capitalised on three of their five break points to seal the victory in 57 minutes.
Bhupathi and Bopanna are bidding to lift their second trophy of the season after triumphing in Dubai. Bhupathi is aiming to retain the title at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event. He was victorious in 2011 with Leander Paes.
