Gasquet To Face Giant-Killer Nieminen

Second seed Richard Gasquet reached the semi-finals of the Thailand Open in Bangkok on Friday as he defeated eighth-seeded Australian Bernard Tomic 7-6(5), 6-4. The Frenchman saved the three break points he faced and broke Tomic once as he claimed victory in 89 minutes.

The 26-year-old Gasquet improved to a 35-18 match record on the season as he reached his third ATP World Tour semi-final. The right-hander was runner-up at the Estoril Open (l. to del Potro) and the Rogers Cup in Toronto (l. to Djokovic).

Gasquet is making his debut in Bangkok and for a place in the final will face Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen, who upset third-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic 6-3, 7-6(3).
