Petzschner Cruises Past Wild Card; Fourth Seeds Butorac/Hanley Tested

German Philipp Petzschner cruised past Thai wild card Peerakiat Siriluethaiwattana 6-1, 6-2 in 58 minutes on Monday to advance to the Thailand Open second round. In June, Petzschner reached the UNICEF Open final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (l. to Ferrer).
Earlier in the day, Kevin Anderson, Yuichi Sugita, Tsunga-Hua Yang and Hiroki Moriya all qualified for the main draw.
In doubles play, Thai twins Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana converted four of their six break point opportunities to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Marinko Matosevic 6-4, 6-3 in 60 minutes. Meanwhile, fourth seeds Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley battled through their opener, defeating Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 in 67 minutes.
Eight main draw singles matches are scheduled to be played in Bangkok on Tuesday.
