In saving five match points to defeat two-time defending Shanghai Rolex Masters champion Andy Murray on Sunday, Novak Djokovic made ATP World Tour Masters 1000 history.

The World No. 2 became the first player to win seven of the current Masters 1000 crowns, surpassing Roger Federer. The Swiss has won seven overall, with six of the events currently on the calendar. Djokovic and Federer also have the distinction of being the only players to reach all nine finals of the current Masters 1000 events.
