Baghdatis/Nieminen Beat Third Seeds In Brisbane

Third seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah were upset in the first round of the Brisbane International on Tuesday, falling to Cypriot/Finnish duo Marcos Baghdatis and Jarkko Nieminen 6-3, 6-3 in 58 minutes.
Baghdatis and Nieminen, playing together for the second time, go onto face Colombian duo Alejandro Falla and Santiago Giraldo in the quarter-finals. Falla and Giraldo defeated Germans Florian Mayer and Frank Moser 6-3, 7-6(5) in 71 minutes.
First-time pairing Marcelo Melo and Tommy Robredo advanced to the quarter-finals at the ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament after beating Australian wild cards Matthew Ebden and Marinko Matosevic 6-4, 6-3 in 55 minutes.
At the Aircel Chennai Open, Thai twins Sanchat Ratiwatana and Sonchai Ratiwatana overcame second seeds Leander Paes and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-6(7), 6-1 in the first round.
