Bhupathi/Nestor Advance In Melbourne; Five Seeded Teams Fall

Fifth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Daniel Nestor dismissed Victor Hanescu and Martin Klizan 6-1, 7-6(8) in the second round of the Australian Open on Saturday.
The Indian and Canadian did not drop serve and won an impressive 81 percent of their second serve points to advance past Hanescu and Klizan pair in 83 minutes. Bhupathi and Nestor are playing their first Grand Slam event together and face Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini next. The Italians defeated 12th-seeded Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram 6-2, 7-6(3), hitting 33 winners to 11 unforced errors.
First-time pairing Marcos Baghdatis and Grigor Dimitrov ousted fourth seeds Max Mirnyi and Horia Tecau 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Cypriot/Bulgarian duo converted three of their six break points for victory in 86 minutes.
French tandem Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin upended seventh seeds Robert Lindstedt and Nenad Zimonjic 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-6(5) in two hours and 28 minutes. They go onto face eleventh seeds David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco, who cruised over Polish duo Tomasz Bednarek and Jerzy Janowicz 6-1, 6-2 in 56 minutes. The Spaniards capitalised on four of their seven break points.
Thomaz Bellucci and Benoit Paire knocked out No. 9 seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in their second-round meeting. Bellucci and Paire won 79 per cent of their first serve points en route to pulling the upset in one hour and 49 minutes. The Brazilian/French duo advance to play sixth seeds Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer.
Dutch pair Robin Haase and Igor Sijsling upended 16th seeds Jonathan Marray and Andre Sa 6-4, 7-6(5). Haase and Sijsling hit nine aces and saved all four break points they faced. Both are through to the third round of a Grand Slam doubles event for the first time.
