Nadal/Monaco Reach Vina del Mar SFs

Rafael Nadal and good friend Juan Monaco once again shined on the doubles court at the VTR Open in Vina del Mar Thursday, defeating Guillaume Rufin and Filippo Volandri 6-2, 7-6(4) to reach the semi-finals.
Monaco and Nadal won 86 per cent of their first serve points and did not lose serve to advance in 75 minutes. The Argentine/Spanish pair play Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer next. The Argentines eliminated fourth seeds Oliver Marach and Horacio Zeballos 6-2, 6-4.
Nadal is playing his first tournament in seven months, having been sidelined with a left knee injury. He was victorious in his return to singles action on Wednesday with a straight-sets win over Federico Delbonis.
In Montpellier, top seeds Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray cruised into the Open Sud de France semi-finals, dismissing Frenchmen Florent Serra and Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-1. For a place in the final, Fleming and Marray face Johan Brunstrom and Raven Klaasen. The Swedish/South African duo knocked off No. 4 seeds Jamie Delgado and Ken Skupski 6-2, 6-3.
Two other seeded pairs were also upset in quarter-final action. Marc Gicquel and Michael Llodra upended second-seeded Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley 4-6, 6-3, 10-6, while Jamie Murray and John Peers dispatched third seeds Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot 6-4, 6-2.
At the PBZ Zagreb Indoors, Flavio Cipolla and Somdev Devvarman saved all 10 break points they faced en route to defeating Benjamin Becker and Lukas Rosol 6-2, 6-2 in the quarter-finals. Cipolla and Devvarman advance to play No. 2 seeds Julian Knowle and Filip Polasek. The Austrian/Slovak tandem battled past alternates Aljaz Bedene and Jaroslav Pospisil 5-7, 6-3, 12-10.
