Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini dismissed Nicholas Monroe and Simon Stadler 6-3, 6-2 to claim their second team trophy on Sunday at the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires. The Italian duo broke Monroe/Stadler four times to wrap up the win in 56 minutes.
“Right now, I’m really happy because we had a great week and won our second title together,” said Fognini. “Outside the court, we are friends, which is important. We hope to play well in Acapulco and will try to do our best.”
Bolelli and Fognini added to their triumph in Umag two years ago. At the Australian Open in January, the two reached their second Grand Slam semi-final together (l. to Bryan/Bryan). They collected 250 Emirates ATP Rankings points and split $27,070.
Both Monroe and Stadler were contesting their first ATP World Tour final.
