Kavcic, Robredo Reach Casablanca Second Round

World No. 85 Blaz Kavcic won 37 of his 51 service points to beat local wild card Mehdi Ziadi 6-2, 6-4 in 87 minutes on Monday at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca.

In the only other main draw match on Day 1, Tommy Robredo, the 2001 runner-up (l. to Canas) and a winner of 10 ATP World Tour titles, defeated Guillaume Rufin 7-6(2), 6-4 to claim his first match win since the first round of Acapulco.

Earlier, Filippo Volandri, 36-year-old Marc Gicquel, Bjorn Phau and Pablo Carreno-Busta all qualified for the main draw. Florent Serra, the 2009 runner-up to Juan Carlos Ferrero, lost in the final round of qualifying against Carreno-Busta.

This week, Pablo Andujar will be bidding to capture a third straight title. Paul-Henri Mathieu (2007) and Stanislas Wawrinka (2010) have both lifted the trophies in the past.
