World No. 4 David Ferrer is one match win away from reaching his fifth ATP World Tour final of the season.

The top seed booked a semi-final clash against third seed Andreas Seppi on Friday after he beat Victor Hanescu 6-4, 7-6(2) in one hour and 40 minutes.

Ferrer improved to an ATP World Tour-best 27-6 match record on the season, highlighted by two ATP World Tour titles at the Heineken Open in Auckland (d. Kohlschreiber) and the Copa Claro in Buenos Aires (d. Wawrinka).

He has a 4-0 FedEx ATP Head2Head record against Seppi, who will contest his second ATP World Tour semi-final of 2013 (also Sydney) after he beat eighth seed and 2005 runner-up Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-3.

Stanislas Wawrinka has reached the Oeiras semi-finals for the second straight year. The second seed defeated first-time ATP World Tour quarter-finalist and local wild card Gastao Elias 6-4, 6-4 in 71 minutes on Friday afternoon. He will next play qualifier Pablo Carreno-Busta. It will be their first FedEx ATP Head2Head meeting.

"I feel good and I am really happy to be in the semi-finals again," said Wawrinka. "I have to be really ready for my next test. I am confident in my form this year. It is better than last season. I hope I can get some more big results."

Carreno-Busta won through the qualifying competition into his first ATP World Tour semi-final. The qualifier beat a seed for the second time this week (also Benneteau in 1R) with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over fourth seed Fabio Fognini in two hours and 13 minutes.
