Novak Djokovic, the 2011 titlist, has been named top seed for The Championships on Wednesday after Wimbledon organisers mirrored the Top 5 in the Emirates ATP Rankings.

Andy Murray is No. 2 seed and will attempt to become the first British player to capture the Wimbledon crown since Fred Perry in 1936. Third seed Roger Federer, the defending champion, is aiming to capture his eighth Wimbledon title, while fourth seed David Ferrer will hope to improve on his quarter-final exit last year.

Rafael Nadal has been named the No. 5 seed. It means that Nadal could meet Djokovic, Murray or Federer in the quarter-finals. Earlier this month, Nadal won his 12th major title at Roland Garros (d. Ferrer). He has won seven titles from nine finals since his comeback from injury in February.

The singles draw ceremony takes place on Friday.

The singles seeds reflect the Top 32 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, but the seeding order is then rearranged on a surface-based system. The formula is:

• Take Emirates ATP Rankings points at 17 June 2013.
• Add 100 per cent points earned for all grass-court tournaments in the past 12 months.
• Add 75 per cent points earned for the best grass-court tournament in the 12 months before that.

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, the winners of 14 major titles, are top seeds in the doubles draw. They have already captured the Australian Open and Roland Garros this year.
