Berdych outlasted fourth seed Gilles Simon, prevailing 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-5. The Czech fired 20 aces in the match that lasted two hours and 55 minutes.
The right-hander rallied from a 0-40 deficit in the final game of the match to close it out on his first match point.
Berdych improved his FedEx ATP Head2Head record against Simon to 3-5 and snapped a three-match losing streak against the Frenchman.
In his third ATP World Tour final of the season, the 28 year old is seeking to capture his first title of the year; he is the only member of the Top 10 not to have won a title in 2013.

Canada's No. 1 Raonic earned his revenge over second seed Richard Gasquet, having lost to the Frenchman in five sets in the fourth round of the US Open earlier this month. The 22 year old served 23 aces and prevailed 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a match that lasted one hour and 51 minutes.
Raonic, ranked No. 11 in the world, is eyeing his second title of the season, following success in San Jose (d. Haas).
He holds a 1-0 FedEx ATP Head2Head advantage over Berdych, winning their only previous match, in Cincinnati in three sets.
