Czech Radek Stepanek advanced to the second round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna on Monday. Stepanek, the tournament's fifth seed, beat wild card Martin Fischer 7-5, 6-3 and will be joined by countryman Lukas Rosol, who defeated Dutchman Jesse Huta Galung in straight sets.
Also in Vienna, Slovakian Miloslav Mecir reached his first ATP World Tour main draw after qualifying for the event. Mecir is the son of Miloslav Mecir, Sr., a former World No. 4 and a two-time Grand Slam finalist (1989 Australian Open, 1989 US Open).
Former champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is the Erste Bank Open's top seed, and is followed by 2001 champion Tommy Haas. Both players look for big wins this week to solidify their bid for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in November.
