A Season To Be Thankful For

Questions to Bob Bryan
What advice would you give to my 8 year old son who has just joined a local tennis club? What age did u both start playing? Toni Bracci
Make sure your son has a good group of friends that he is playing with. You want tennis to be fun and social for him, not work. It's important that he has a good coach that can mold his strokes so that they're effective not only in the 12's, but in college and the pros. If he wants take it that far. If you guys live near a university or in a city with an ATP event, make sure you take him to the matches and show him the next level. Like my Dad says, "Kids must first take it in through their eyes." We started playing tennis very young but were lucky to have supportive tennis parents, a great local club, and a built in practice partner in the bedroom down the hall.
What is a typical Thanksgiving like for the Bryan Brothers? Any special traditions or events? Carlton Jones
We always get together with our family, eat some turkey and pumpkin pie in the afternoon, play monopoly, watch football, and see a movie in the evening. We traditionally go around the dinner table and each person speaks about what he/she is thankful for.
What are your goals for next year? Diego Timoteo
The ultimate goal is to finish the year as the number one team. To do that we'll have to play our best at the biggest tourneys, the Slams. Also, we'd love to hit triple digits on titles and bounce back strong in Davis Cup after a couple tough matches last year.
Also, I'm learning to read sheet music for piano. Would love to master that by the end of the year...and I would like to see Micaela be able to sing and dance "Happy and You Know It". Currently, she's got the clapping down, but that's it.
Questions to Mike Bryan
What is your advice in order to improve your net game in doubles or singles matches? Paolo Galindo
Practice makes perfect. Make sure you put the time in each day at the net. Attack the net and have your weight going forward as you contact the volley. A good split step, staying low in the legs, and a short swing are paramount and don't be afraid to go and get the ball!
Who is your favourite opponent? Toni De Stefano
I don't know if we have any favourite opponents! However, we have a lot of close friends on tour that we compete against. The Brazilians, Bruno Soares and Marcelo Melo, who have both had great seasons, are both really great dudes!
