Buenos Aires, Argentina

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal announced on Tuesday that he would participate in the 2014 edition of the Copa Claro in Argentina. He last played this ATP World Tour 250 event, held 8-16 February at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, back in 2005.
“I am really happy to return to Buenos Aires," said Nadal. "I look forward to coming back to Argentina and share a great week of tennis with the Argentine fans."
The Spaniard has had previous success in South America, most notably during his return from an eight-month injury layoff in early 2013. Nadal reached the Vina del Mar final (l. to Zeballos) in his first tournament and followed it with a title in Sao Paulo (d. Nalbandian). Nadal went on to take nine more titles – including five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophies – on his way to claiming the year-end No. 1 Emirates ATP Ranking.
In November, Nadal helped promote Argentine tourism by teaming up with Djokovic to play an exhibition match on a barge floating near Patagonian glaciers.
The 2012 Copa Claro final featured a three-set victory by Spaniard David Ferrer (d. Wawrinka). Tickets for the Copa Claro go on sale 9 December at www.tuentrada.com.
