Brazil's No. 1 player Thomaz Bellucci helped launch the Rio Open presented by Claro hdtv on Tuesday. The tournament, which has already signed World No. 1 Rafael Nadal and World No. 3 David Ferrer, will be played at the Jockey Club Brasileiro 15-23 February.
“When I was a kid I never had a chance to watch this kind of event at home. I have played some tournaments in Brazil before, but never one like this," said Bellucci, who was joined at the launch by Brazil's No. 1 player on the WTA Tour, Teliana Pereira. "I am very much looking forward to playing in Rio. I think that when we Brazilians will be on court, it will be like a Davis Cup atmosphere."

Along with the ATP World Tour 500 tournament, the Rio Open presented by Claro hdtv will also include a WTA international-level draw. This combined event is the only one of its kind in South America.
The tournament's eight clay courts will be accompanied by an entertainment area with restaurants, shops, sponsors show rooms and interactive space for tennis fans. “We want it to be for the whole family. That’s why we also have tickets at a reasonable price,” said IMX’s Vice-President, Marcia Casz. Tickets go on sale on 13 December at the official tournament website www.rioopen.com.
The Rio Open presented by Claro hdtv will have trophies designed by renowned jewelry designer Antonio Bernardo. Major sponsors include Peugeot, Correios, Raizen, Itau, Rolex, Asics, Xerox, Head, Corona and Universidade Estacio de Sa.
