BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL 2014
Querrey's Rock Star Ambitions
by ATP Staff|
Sam Querrey advanced to the second round of the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Dmitry Tursunov on Monday. Afterwards, the American sat down with ATPWorldTour.com to discuss his rock star ambitions and his playlist essentials.
If you could have any job in the world outside tennis, what would it be?
I’d be a musician. A rock star of some kind. I don’t play any musical instruments, but I really like going to concerts. I could play the guitar, be the singer, the drummer, I don’t really have a preference! I think it’d just be fun to be on stage and feel what it’s like to have all those people yelling for you.
What’s your biggest travel pet peeve?
Slow people in the security lines at the airports.

What three things could you not live without?
My cell phone, my friends and music.
What was the first car you owned?
It was a 1974 Volkswagen van. I sold it a few years ago. Now I have a BMW. I’m moving up in this world!
What would we find on your ideal playlist?
A little bit of everything. Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, you’d find Incubus, Drake, a little Taylor Swift.
Which app on your phone could you not manage without?
Probably Instagram. I really like Instagram so I can keep up with my friends when I go away.
What’s your perfect holiday?
Just going to some type of beach, Mexico or Hawaii, with friends and family. Having no agenda, just hanging at the pool or the beach, going to dinner, stuff like that.
What’s the last book you read or last film that you saw?
I’m reading The Wolf of Wall Street at the moment, which is actually a movie too. The last movie I saw was Hunger Games 2. I liked it a lot, but I liked the first one better.
Which three people would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Tom Brady, Justin Timberlake and Leonardo DiCaprio.
