The Last Time... With Dmitry Tursunov
by ATP Staff|
During his run at the Apia International Sydney, World No. 32 Dmitry Tursunov, a winner of seven ATP World Tour titles, talks about the last time…
I cooked for myself or others?
A couple of weeks ago when we were in Perth. I’m not a good cook at all, but when you’re hungry you’ve got to use your imagination and make something. I think if I don’t burn something, then it’s really good, a job well done. So on those terms, I guess I’m a good cook, but I’m not a Michelin chef.
I played a practical joke in the locker room?
We mess around with each other in the locker rooms. Michael Llodra is a good guy to pick on, but the problem is, when you pick on him, he usually comes back a little bit harder, so it always escalates! He sprayed some water at me in practice, so I put a banana in his bag and kicked the bag to mash the banana inside. That’s going to get me in trouble!
I missed a flight?
Last year or two years ago in Atlanta, I think. I messed up the flight times so I showed up a couple of hours later.
I met a childhood idol?
I never had one. I was never really into sports that much and I never had an idol. I mean, obviously I liked certain actors and actresses, but I haven’t really met any of them!
I went to the movies?
A couple of months ago, at least. I usually watch movies on a plane or sometimes off YouTube.
I lost something important?
I had my phone blocked by accident a few years back. It had a lot of information that was never backed up, so that was pretty upsetting. But I generally take precautions. I don’t lose important things.
I shared a hotel room with another player?
Two years ago, when I won tournaments in Turkey, I was sharing with another player, then towards the end of the year at a Challenger in Russia as well. Last year I shared with my physio.
