Frenchmen Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut, the No. 13 seeds, knocked out fifth seeds and 2012 Australian Open champions Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek 6-2, 7-6(4) in quarter-final action Wednesday.

Llodra and Mahut had lost to Paes and Stepanek in the third round of the US Open last year, and the Indian-Czech duo went on tp capture the title.

The Frenchmen, who finished runners-up to the Bryans at Roland Garros last June, are looking to reach their second Grand Slam final together and next face Lukasz Kubot and Robert Lindstedt. The No. 14 seeds closed out a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win over Max Mirnyi and Mikhail Youzhny.

Llodra is a two-time Australian Open doubles champion, having won the title with countryman Fabrice Santoro in 2003-04. He also reached the final in 2002 (w/Santoro) and ’08 (w/Clement).

Kubot and Lindstedt are making just their third main draw appearance as a duo and had not won a tour-level match prior to this week.
