Horia Tecau claimed a hat-trick of titles at the Grand Prix Hassan II on Saturday as he and Jean-Julien Rojer defeated Tomasz Bednarek and Lukas Dlouhy 6-2, 6-2 in Casablanca.
The Romanian previously lifted the title at this ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament in 2010 and 2011 with Robert Lindstedt.
Top seeds Rojer and Tecau swept to the title without the loss of a set and dismissed their final opponents in just 56 minutes. The Dutch/Romanian duo captured their second ATP World Tour team title, following victory in February at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors (d. Mertinak/Marx). They also finished runners-up in the Rotterdam final (l. to Llodra/Mahut). Victory this week saw the duo return to form, having suffered three first-round exits in their past three tournaments.
“It was a great week for us,” said Tecau. “Winning the title without losing a set gives us a lot of confidence going into the clay-court season. Casablanca is always a great week for me. This is the tournament I’ve won most in my career and I’m happy to celebrate my third title here.”
The 32-year-old Rojer claimed his 11th ATP World Tour doubles title, while Tecau, 29, lifted his 18th trophy.
“Like Horia said, we are very happy with this title,” said Rojer. “Horia played a great match today and I hope that we can come back and defend the title next year.”
