Del Potro From Rest To Rehab
Juan Martin del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro is set to start a period of intense rehabilitation on his left wrist after an encouraging visit to the surgeon on Wednesday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Nearly six weeks on from his surgery, del Potro was assessed by Doctor Richard Berger, the surgeon responsible for fixing the Argentine's right wrist four years ago. Del Potro has been using a special splint to support the wrist while the ligaments heal.
On examination, Dr. Berger was very pleased with the results. The ligament repair has proceeded as expected, giving del Potro the all clear to begin a rehabilitation programme to recover the movement and strength in his wrist. The rehab will continue until del Potro is ready to make a return to the ATP World Tour.
Writing on his Facebook page, del Potro informed his fans, "Here's a photo of me and Richard Berger during my second check-up at the Mayo Clinic since the surgery. The doctor is satisfied with the recovery and, even though I need to keep using the splint, now I can start the rehabilitation exercises to recover the mobility in my left wrist."
Del Potro underwent surgery on 24th March, during which the damaged ligaments were repaired and reinforced. Dr. Berger discovered that the damage in del Potro’s ligament was worse than what they had seen on the high resolution images taken prior to the procedure, but the operation went well.
