Dimitrov/Rosol Upset Rome Second Seeds

Grigor Dimitrov and Lukas Rosol reached the Internazionali BNL d'Italia quarter-finals after upsetting second seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 on Wednesday.

The Bulgarian-Czech duo goes on to battle Croatian Marin Cilic and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico, who were victorious over fifth-seeded Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-8.

Three seeded pairings also advanced on Wednesday. No. 3 Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo reached the last eight in their tournament debut, defeating Max Mirnyi and Mikhail Youzhny 7-6(5), 5-7, 10-6 in 99 minutes. Sixth seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic, the 2009 champions, clinched the Match Tie-Break 3-6, 7-6(4), 14-12 over Kevin Anderson and Jurgen Melzer to secure their quarter-final berth.

David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco, seeded fourth, won the all-Spanish clash against Pablo Andujar and Marcel Granollers 7-5, 6-1, marking Marrero's 150th victory on the ATP World Tour.

In the final first-round match of the tournament, Robin Haase and Feliciano Lopez triumphed over Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-2 to set up a second-round meeting with eighth seeds Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot.
