Delbonis, Roger-Vasselin Win Nice Openers

Seeds Federico Delbonis and Edouard Roger-Vasselin both won through to the second round on Sunday at the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur.

Seventh seed Delbonis overcame Mikhail Kukushkin 7-5, 6-3 in just over 90 minutes, while eighth seed Edouard Roger-Vasselin saved both break points he faced in a 6-3, 6-1 win over Alejandro Gonzalez in 66 minutes.

Leonardo Mayer, Jack Sock, Martin Vaisse and Lucas Pouille all qualified for the main draw. World No. 315 Vaisse beat Sam Querrey 7-6(4), 6-4 in the final round.

John Isner, Ernests Gulbis and Gael Monfils are competing at the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tennis tournament this week.
