Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, who are currently No. 4 in the Emirates ATP Doubles Team Rankings with a 1-4 record in title matches this year, suffered a first-round exit at Roland Garros on Tuesday.

Finns Henri Kontinen and Jarkko Nieminen beat the 10th seeds 6-4, 6-3. Cabal reached the 2011 final with Eduardo Schwank.

Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez, the No. 12 seeds, knocked out Johan Brunstrom and Frederik Nielsen 7-5, 6-2, while this season’s three-time ATP World Tour titlists and No. 13 seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau cruised past Frenchmen Adrian Mannarino and Benoit Paire 6-4, 6-0.

Santiago Gonzalez and Scott Lipsky, who have won two clay-court titles in the past four weeks – at the Portugal Open (d. Cuevas-Marrero) and the Dusseldorf Open (d. Emmrich-Kas) – defeated Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins 7-6(6), 6-4.

No. 15 seeds Jamie Murray and John Peers fared better than their countrymen, prevailing against Vasek Pospisil and Rajeev Ram 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(2).

French No. 11 seeds Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin also advanced Tuesday, finishing strongly in a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over Benjamin Becker and Yen-Hsun Lu.
