Gasquet Makes Talon-ted Friends

It hasn't all been about tennis for the players at this week’s two ATP World Tour tournaments. ATPWorldTour.com provides a recap of the highlights.

Richard Gasquet made a trio of feathered friends at the Aegon International. The Frenchman, joined by compatriot Alize Cornet, welcomed Halo the Barn Owl, Ash the Harris Hawk and Makeda the Lanner Falcon on their visit to Devonshire Park from the East Sussex Falconry.

The top-seeded Gasquet also celebrated his 28th birthday on Wednesday, and received a cake from the tournament following his morning practice. He went on to defeat Bernard Tomic in his second-round opening match later in the day.

Over the weekend, the Aegon International staged its own ‘Rally For Bally’ event, with Greg Rusedski and Petra Kvitova playing Colin Fleming and Agnieszka Radwanska in an exhibition. Charity doubles matches were also held at The Queen’s Club and in Birmingham, in memory of Elena Baltacha, who passed away from liver cancer in May. Read More

German doubles specialist Martin Emmrich proposed to his girlfriend, WTA player Michaella Krajicek, following her first-round win at the combined ATP World Tour-WTA tournament.

“We’ve now been together for 10 months and every time I look into those beautiful Bambi eyes I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he said, before dropping to one knee on centre court. “Do you want to marry me?” he asked. Krajicek said yes and hugged Emmrich. Read More & Watch
