Pospisil/Sock Take Atlanta Doubles Crown

Atlanta, U.S.A.

Top seeds Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock remain undefeated after claiming the BB&T Atlanta Open title over Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 on Sunday. They stay on track in their bid to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London this November.

Johnson and Querrey, playing in their first team final, forced a Match Tie-break against the Canadian-American pairing but eventually fell in 78 minutes. Pospisil and Sock served at 69 per cent and won 83 per cent of first-serve points (36 of 43).

"They played well," said Pospisil. "[But] we felt like we were playing better than they were even after losing the second set. We just had to stay calm in the [Match Tie-break] and go point by point."

The 24-year-old Pospisil and 21-year-old Sock were crowned Wimbledon champions earlier this month in their team debut, and now ride a ten-match winning streak. Looking ahead, they plan to compete at the Rogers Cup, the Western & Southern Open - Cincinnati and at the US Open. They are projected to rise to No. 7 in the Emirates ATP Doubles Team Race To London when the latest numbers are released Monday.

Querrey was contesting his ninth doubles final, and Johnson was making his maiden appearance in a championship match.
