Juan Monaco paid a visit to the ‘cheese cathedral’ in Gstaad, following his first-round win Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad on Monday.

Just a few hours after beating 2008 titlist Victor Hanescu, the Argentinean learned more about the 3,000 cheese wheels that are stored 25 metres underground.

“I recently visited a cheese dairy in my hometown in Tandil,” Monaco told ATPWorldTour.com. “It was great to get to know more about the history of cheese here in Switzerland.

“This is a very special place with a nice atmosphere. I like to eat cheese. It’s something I have pretty often. We got to taste some and it was excellent.”

The cheese is stored in temperatures of seven degrees Celsius and it has to age for two years before it can be eaten.
