Rosol© GEPA/Hans OsterauerLukas Rosol is aiming to reach his third ATP World Tour final of the year.

Third seed Lukas Rosol and qualifier Maximo Gonzalez were the only winners on a rain-plagued Wednesday at the bet-at-home Cup Kitzbühel.

Play, originally scheduled to start at 11 a.m. local time, did not get underway until 3:17 p.m. due to heavy rain.

The break in the bad weather ensured that Rosol hit nine aces past Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-3, 7-6(4) in one hour and 38 minutes to set up a quarter-final against Gonzalez, who beat fellow qualifier Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-4, 6-4.

But the rain returned.

Philipp Kohlschreiber, the 2012 runner-up, and defending champion Marcel Granollers had been hoping to begin their campaigns today at the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament.
