New York, U.S.A.

Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram stunned third seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 6-3, 6-4 Sunday in the third round of the US Open. The Americans are playing just their second tournament of the season and are through to their first major quarter-final since Wimbledon 2012 (l. to Bryans).
Nestor and Zimonjic were bidding to win their fourth Grand Slam championship together, having re-united this season. They came into the US Open in a strong position to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, currently second in the Emirates ATP Doubles Team Rankings.
There were no such upsets for the other seeded teams in third-round action Sunday. Fourth seeds and last year’s semi-finalist Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo dismissed 2011 runners-up Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-4, 6-4.
Meanwhile, 12th seeds and Australian Open finalists Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen battled past Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Philipp Oswald 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The US Open has marked a return to form for the American/South African duo, who had won just one match together since a third-round run at Wimbledon (l. to Benneteau/Roger-Vasselin).
Wimbledon champions Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock will be in action when the rain clears at Flushing Meadows. They are due to face Carlos Berlocq and Leonardo Mayer.
