Jamie Murray
Charities and Causes
Jamie Murray’s wife, Alejandra, is from Colombia. During their visits to the country, they witnessed many children living in extreme poverty. Both Jamie and Alejandra wanted to do something to help, and decided to support Children of the Andes. COTA is committed to keeping children safe, defending children’s rights, and strengthening children's organisations in Colombia. COTA works in partnership with local organisations to reach the children who need them most, which includes children who are living or working on the streets, who are abused and exploited, who are living with HIV or AIDS, who are displaced by conflict, or who are living with disabilities or in poverty.
Highlights
Children of the Andes received a €10,000 grant from ATP ACES in 2012. This money benefitted the project “Reducing and Preventing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children”. This project will: provide specialised psychological, legal and social support to child survivors of CSEC; work with children and families to raise awareness of the problem; help civil servants improve the accessibility of protective services to at-risk children and families.
