Charities and Causes
The Champions Volunteer Foundation, the primary beneficiary of the BNP Paribas Open, represents a diverse group of individuals who come together to raise funds for charitable purposes including youth recreational, educational and well-care programs.
Close to 1000 volunteers donate their time to events held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, including the BNP Paribas Open. The BNP Paribas Open offers more than 18 committees from which to choose, including ushers, player services, transportation, shuttles, checking tickets, greeting patrons, and many more.
Highlights
Since 2002, The Champions Volunteer Foundation has donated more than $1.2 million to charities in the Coachella Valley, including including, but not limited to: The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center, Foundation for the Retarded, Desert Blind & Handicapped, Martha's Kitchen, Palm Springs Stroke Activity Center, Children's Discovery Museum, Boys & Girls Club, National Junior Tennis League, Shelter From the Storm and Family YMCA-Palm Desert. Its two newest grants, the Charlie Pasarell and Peggy Michel Awards, is offered to local high schools in the Coachella Valley.
The BNP Paribas Open received a $10,000 ATP ACES For Charity grant in 2012.
