Alex Antonitsch

Antonitsch started playing tennis at age 10… One of his favourite sports is hockey, which caused him to play tennis right-handed (he is naturally left-handed) due to a broken arm he suffered while playing ‘shinny.’ "I didn't want to stop playing tennis for a while," he said… Turned pro in 1985 and was a member of the Austrian Davis Cup team from 1984 to 1996… coached by Stan Franker… Captured his first tour singles title at Seoul in April 1990 and improved from No. 83 to a career year-end best No. 64 on the ATP computer… He compiled a 26-21 match record and earned a career-high $208,090 that season.

The Austrian resides in Moedling and is the tournament director of the ATP World Tour 250 event in Kitzbuhel.

1991 -- Reached semi-finals at Seoul, and won the doubles title (w/Bloom).

1990 -- Captured first tour singles title at Seoul; Runner-up at Hong Kong (l. Cash); Quarter-finalist at Rotterdam; Doubles Semi-finalist at Seoul, Hong Kong (w/Nijssen), Manchester (w/Castle).

1989 -- Runner-up at Vilamoura Ch.; Quarter-finalist at Stuttgart, Montreal; Third at German Sat. #1 (w/36 ATP pts.); Doubles SF at Livingston(w/Canter), Basle, Vienna (w/Taroczy); Doubles QF at Kitzbuhel (w/Taroczy), Montreal (w/Cante).

1988 -- Winner at Graz Ch.; Runner-up at Copenhagen Ch.; Quarter-finalist at Lisbon Ch., Valkenswaard Ch.; Doubles Runner-up at Lisbon; Doubles winner at Vienna (w/Taroczy); Semi-finalist at Salzburg Ch. (w/Limberger).

1987 -- Semi-finalist at Livingston, Waiblingen Ch.; Runner-up at Porto Ch.; Doubles Semi-finalist at Hilversum (w/Muster).

1986 -- Quarter-finalist at St. Vincent; Doubles QF 5 Times.

1985 -- Won first tour doubles title at Cologne (w/Schapers); Semi-finalist at Adelaide (w/Schapers).
