Antonitsch started playing tennis at age 10… One of his favourite sports is hockey, which caused him to play tennis right-handed (he is naturally left-handed) due to a broken arm he suffered while playing ‘shinny.’ "I didn't want to stop playing tennis for a while," he said… Turned pro in 1985 and was a member of the Austrian Davis Cup team from 1984 to 1996… coached by Stan Franker… Captured his first tour singles title at Seoul in April 1990 and improved from No. 83 to a career year-end best No. 64 on the ATP computer… He compiled a 26-21 match record and earned a career-high $208,090 that season.
The Austrian resides in Moedling and is the tournament director of the ATP World Tour 250 event in Kitzbuhel.
