Full name is Tomas Ugo Behrend... Born and raised in Brazil where he began playing tennis at age five... Father, Claudio, was an outstanding volleyball player, and he now owns a graphics and printer company in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil, with his wife, Miriam... Has dual citizenship since his grandparents are German... In April 1992 he moved to Germany to play tournaments so he decided to sign up as German... Participated in several sports (soccer, handball, volleyball, swimming) as a youngster... A big soccer fan and favorite teams are Gremio in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and Borussia Dortmund, Germany... Favorite surface is clay and considers his forehand as best shot... Wife, Kerstin (married Aug. 16, 2004)... Coached by countryman Marko Seidensticker (since April 1994).\x0d
