South African-born Briton Neil Broad won seven ATP doubles titles (7-17 record) and a silver medal (w/ Tim Henman) at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (l. to Woodbridge-Woodforde). He made his Davis Cup debut for Great Britain against France in January 1992, playing a further 10 ties (1992, 1995-2000) amassing a 4-7 doubles record. He reached the semi-finals at 1990 Australian Open (w/Gary Muller) and quarter-finals at 1997 Australian Open, 1997 Wimbledon and 1998 US Open (all w /Piet Norval). Broad qualified for the ATP Tour World Doubles Championships in 1990 (w/Muller) and served as an alternate pair (w/Norval) in 1996. He retired in June 2000, having ranked in the year-end Top 50 doubles rankings on six occasions (1989-91, 1996-98). Broad began playing tennis aged 10 and also enjoyed cricket, golf (handicap nine) and rugby. He turned pro in 1986 after attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for 2 ½ years, where he earned all-America honours and majored in business. He focused on doubles from 1991. He lived in Slough, Berkshire, during his pro career. Married Liz on 11 December 1992, the couple has one daughter, Jessica (born 20 February 1997). Bio: James Buddell - September 2009
