The Danish veteran finished with a year-end best No. 60 ranking highlighted by his third career ATP title... One of six players over age 30 to win an ATP title during season... Jumped off to an 8-4 start with QF in Delray Beach and first North American title in Memphis (d. Mirnyi)... Struggled with a 1-9 before reaching QF in Nottingham in June (l. to Mirnyi)... Did not win back-to-back matches again until final tournament in St. Petersburg where he advanced to QF (l. to Verdasco)... Compiled records of 12-14 on hard, 2-3 on carpet and grass and 0-5 on clay.


1992 – Reached Brisbane final (l. to Raoux) in only his fourth career ATP level event… Won Cologne and Tampere Challenger titles… 1993 – In first Grand Slam at Australian Open, reached 4th RD (l. to Stich)… Became first Dane to reach Top 50 at No. 41 in June… 1994 – Beat Edberg for first Top 10 win at Wimbledon… Helped his country into ‘95 Davis Cup World Group…1996 – Advanced to his first ATP final in native Copenhagen (l. to Pioline)… Also reached SF in Washington and 3rd RD in Atlanta Olympics… 1997 – Opened season with runner-up in Auckland (l. to Bjorkman) and reached first doubles final in Copenhagen (w/Fetterlein)… 1998 – In his 135th career event, won first ATP title in Hong Kong (d. Black) to become first Dane to win an ATP title in Open Era… 1999 – Posted his fifth straight Top 100 season by reaching final in Newport (l. to Woodruff)… 2000 – Missed all of campaign with left shoulder injury… Underwent arthroscopic surgery on Feb. 9 in Denmark and another operation on Aug. 21 in N.Y., missing action for 20 months… 2001 – Returned at Queen’s in June and reached SF in Newport in third event back… Also SF in Shanghai… 2002 – Turned in his best year-end ranking (No. 65) and won second career title in Tokyo (d. M. Norman)… Also SF in Halle on grass… 2003 – Compiled most match wins (19) on ATP circuit since 1999… Reached QF in San Jose, Los Angeles and Costa do Sauipe… Had 6-0 singles mark in Davis Cup play…2004 – Finished in Top 100 in INDESIT ATP Race for third consecutive season after reaching one SF and two QF during year… On Challenger circuit, advanced to SF in Heilbronn…On grass, reached 3rd RD at Wimbledon with wins over Gasquet and Pavel (l. to Popp) for first time since 1994… Also advanced to QF in Delray Beach (l. to Ancic)…Two weeks later, turned in his best finish of season in Shanghai, reaching first SF since winning title in Tokyo in 2002…Closed year with QF in Moscow.
