his country during the mid 1960s. Mother, Gun, is a tennis coach.
Reached his first career Tour singles final in Washington in July 1992,
losing to Petr Korda, and later reached the final at the Tokyo-indoor, losing
to Ivan Lendl. Along the way, handed Boris Becker his worst career indoor
loss (6-1, 6-2) in the third round. Capped off the year in Stockholm,
defeating top-ranked Jim Courier en route to the quarterfinals.
Finished in the top 20 at No. 19 from his 129 ranking in 1991. Also
earned a career-high $345,399.
