Brother, Marcelo, works in a bank, and sister, Juliana, works for Federal police...He is married...Educated at Colegio Pitagoras, Belo Horizonte...Goal in tennis is "just to be the best player I can be. I will push myself to be the best possible and I will be happy with that"...During convalescence from knee injury in 2007, opened two fitness centres in Belo Horizonte...Inspired to focus on doubles career because "I wanted to play ATP and Grand Slam tournaments. I saw Melo and Sa competing and doing well. I knew I wouldn't be alone as the only Brazilian [on tour]"...Considers favourite surface is hard...Favourite shot is forehand...Favourite tournament is Miami...Idol growing up was Pete Sampras...Hobbies include: soccer, poker and enjoying time with family...Supports Cruzeiro football club and Ronaldo is one of his favourite players...Made his Davis Cup debut for Brazil versus Colombia in March 2005. 2011 -- The Brazilian compiled his best season on ATP World Tour by reaching a career-high 5 finals, winning back-to-back titles in Santiago and Costa do Sauipe (w/Melo) in February…Also finalist in Acapulco and Stockholm (w/Melo) and ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo (w/Chela)...Teamed most of season with Melo, putting together a 32-23 match record and finishing No.10 in ATP Doubles Team Ranking…Finished a year-end best No. 19 individually in doubles and earned a career-high $235,186...

2010 -- Partnering Brazilian compatriot Marcelo Mello, the duo reached four ATP World Tour finals lifting one title….In January, finished runner-up at Auckland (l. to Daniell-Tecau)…Lifted first team title at Nice in May, beating Bopanna-Qureshi 16 63 10-5 in final…“I'm really happy, because we have been friends for a long time and are from the same tennis club. It really is special for us. I think we stayed calm, when they played really well in the first set. It was tough and we didn't have a chance. But after that we picked it up and played really solid in the Match tie-break"…Made it to third title match at Gstaad in July (l. to Brunstrom-Nieminen) and advanced to the Metz final (l. to Brown-Wassen)…Also posted five SF runs and two QFs (including Roland Garros)…Represented Brazil in Davis Cup ties versus Uruguay and India…

2009 – In first full year on ATP World Tour circuit, captured second title (w/Ullyett) from two final appearances…In February, advanced to Delray Beach SFs (w/Butorac)…At ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events (w/Ullyett), reached Miami QFs, Rome and Madrid SFs…Duo went onto make QF exits at Roland Garros (l. to Dlouhy-Paes) and Wimbledon (l. to Bryan-Bryan)…Reached Eastbourne SFs and third ATP World Tour final (w/Ullyett) at New Haven (l. to Knowle-Melzer)…Clinched second team title at Stockholm, beating Aspelin-Hanley 64 76(4) in 91-minute final…Pair narrowly failed to qualify for Barclays ATP World Tour Finals...Attained a career-high No. 14 doubles ranking on 14 May...

2008 – Reached 10 tour-level QFs (or better) highlighted by one ATP World Tour title from two final appearances…Fell in Roland Garros SFs (w/Vemic) to eventual champions Cuevas-Horna…Also reached US Open QFs (w/Vemic)…Captured first ATP World Tour title (w/Ullyett) at Nottingham in June and finalist at Washington (w/Ullyett) in August…Won two Challenger titles at Sao Paulo-1 (w/J.
