Began playing at age four with his father, Karel (deceased) and mother, Emi, who is retired...Has an older brother Petr...Enjoys hockey (favorite NHL team is New York Rangers) and played for 10 years at a local club in Kolin...A big hard rock fan and enjoys music of U2, Guns N’ Roses, Metalica and Faith No More...Won European team championships (w/Rikl and Zdrazilia) in 1987 and member of Galea Cup team...Has an 0-3 Davis Cup record (0-2 in doubles) in three ties...Wife, Monika (married Aug. 17, 1999) is sister of countryman and former doubles partner Petr Pala and coached by father-in-law Frantisek Pala...Son, Daniel (born July 9, 1998).

2006 -- Teamed with the player he coached, Dlouhy, to record a 29-14 record and finish No. 10 in ATP Doubles Race...Won titles at Costa do Sauipe and Estoril and reached Valencia final...Also won the Vienna title (w/Pala)...

2007 -- Compiled 3-3 mark in doubles finals and finished in Top 10 individually at No. 6 and reached two Grand Slam finals...Repeated title at Costa do Sauipe and Acapulco final (w/Dlouhy)...The duo returned with run to Roland Garros final, his second runner-up finish ('01) at event...Also won titles at Gstaad (w/Cermak) and AMS Montreal (w/Bhupathi)... Reunited with Dlouhy to reach Cincinnati SF and US Open final...Qualified for team's first Tennis Masters Cup and went 2-1 in round robin action to finish at No. 5 in the Stanford ATP Doubles Race.

The Czech veteran finished in Top 10 individually at No. 6 in doubles for the first time as he won his first career AMS title (w/Bhupathi) and reached two Grand Slam finals...Turned in a successful Latin America swing (w/Dlouhy), defending the Costa do Sauipe title and reaching the Buenos Aires SF and Acapulco final...The duo returned with run to Roland Garros final, his second runner-up finish at the event...Followed with Wimbledon QF (l. to Bryan-Bryan)...During the summer, won titles at Gstaad (w/Cermak) and AMS Montreal (w/Bhupathi)... Reunited with Dlouhy to reach Cincinnati SF and US Open final...During European indoor circuit, reached St. Petersburg SF...Qualified for team's first Tennis Masters Cup and went 2-1 in round robin action to finish at No. 5 in the Stanford ATP Doubles Race.
