Began playing at age five and nicknamed Lipper and Lip...Only child in family...Mother, Gail, is a pyschologist; father, Marc, passed away in 2001...Grandfather, Jack Sherry, was No. 2 in world in table tennis and played with Shah of Iran during World War II...Compiled an outstanding collegiate career at Stanford University from 1999-2003, earning All-American honors three times...Member of NCAA team champions in 2000 and reached NCAA doubles final in 2002 (w/D. Martin) and SF in '01 and '03...Favorite surface is hard courts and considers serve his best shot...Idol growing up was Pete Sampras...A big fan of New York Mets in baseball and New York Jets in football...Coached by former ATP pro Scott McCain (since May 2006).
