US Men's Clay Court Championship

Lone Star State Hosts US Men's Clay Court Championship
The US Men's Clay Court Championship began in 1910 in Omaha with an idea of encouraging the establishment of more clay courts in the West. Since then, the tournament has been contested in numerous cities across the United States, before settling in its current location of Houston in 2001. It is the only ATP World Tour event in the U.S. contested on clay.

Almagro Goes Close - Nicolas Almagro reached the Houston final on his tournament debut. He is now 12-7 in finals (all 19 have come on clay).

Monaco Falls In SFs- Defending champion Juan Monaco lost to John Isner 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-finals. It was a repeat of the 2012 final. He has won six ATP World Tour titles on clay.

Williams’ Breakthrough Week - Rhyne Williams reached his first ATP World Tour semi-final (l. to Almagro) and subsequently rose 27 places to No. 117 in the Emirates ATP Rankings.

John Isner claimed his first career title on clay, and the sixth of his career, after he beat Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 7-5 at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship. Isner fired a tournament record 64 aces, surpassing the previous mark of 60 set by Pete Sampras.
