Dutch Titlist Due In Rotterdam

The first edition of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, held in 1974, was won by Dutch tennis ace Tom Okker. Tennis fans in The Netherlands had to wait until 1995 for another Dutchman - Richard Krajicek - to title at the indoor hard court event. Winners in the intervening years include illustrious players such as Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, Björn Borg, Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg.

Youzhny Holds Djokovic’s Number - In a repeat of the 2007 semi-finals, Novak Djokovic was ousted by Mikhail Youzhny. The top seed, hoping to reach his first final in Rotterdam, lost in two tie-breaks.

Thwarted At Final Hurdle - Appearing in his second Rotterdam final, Mikhail Youzhny was forced to concede the match to Robin Soderling in the second set as he failed to overcome a hamstring injury.

Hat-Trick Of Semis - World No. 6 Nikolay Davydenko suffered his third semi-final exit in Rotterdam, falling to eventual champion Robin Soderling. The Russian has a 14-7 event record.

World No. 8 Robin Soderling won his fifth ATP World Tour title when he became the first Swede in 17 years to triumph at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The third seed was leading 6-4, 2-0 when Russian Mikhail Youzhny was forced to retire with a right hamstring injury. The 25-year-old Soderling was contesting the Rotterdam final for the second time, having finished runner-up to Michael Llodra in a third-set tie-break in 2008.
