Sydney Maintains Rich Tennis Tradition
The Apia International Sydney has a rich history, dating back to 1885 when colonial officials used it as a means to select the Davis Cup team. Today, Sydney welcomes the world's best men's and women's players in the week prior the Australian Open. Lleyton Hewitt thrilled hometown fans as he won titles in four straight tournament appearances, from 2000-01 and 2004-05. Bernard Tomic won his first ATP World Tour title here in 2013.

Harrison Beats Isner - Qualifier Ryan Harrison recorded the biggest win of his career as he ousted top seed and fellow American John Isner in the second round.

Anderson Toppled - World No. 36 Anderson was chasing his third ATP World Tour title and dropped to a 2-2 finals record. He had saved two match points in the semi-finals (d. Benneteau).

Defending Champ Beaten - Defending champion Jarkko Nieminen was beaten in the second round by eventual winner Tomic. A year earlier the Finn had beaten Benneteau in the final.

Bernard Tomic delighted the home support as he captured his maiden ATP World Tour title with a 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3 victory over South Africa’s Kevin Anderson. "It's an amazing feeling," said Tomic. “It's my first title, and I know I'll win a lot more if I keep this attitude up."
