Del Potro Returns To Action In Delray Beach
Argentine sets return date
Juan Martin del Potro is on the comeback trail.
The former World No. 4, who played just two tournaments last year (Sydney and Miami) before undergoing left wrist surgery on June 18, will return to action at the Delray Beach Open on 15 February.
Del Potro has experienced comeback success in Delray Beach before. Coming off right wrist surgery in May 2010, the Tandil native came into the event No. 166 in the Emirates ATP Rankings and won the 2011 title without dropping a set (d. Tipsarevic).
"We've been expecting this call," said Delray Beach Open tournament director Mark Baron. "Juan Martin has always had Delray Beach in his comeback plans, and we're happy to know that it's come to fruition. We are rooting for him to be able to overcome his injury and hope he will have a successful comeback."
The 27-year-old Argentine is a winner of 18 tour-level titles, including the 2009 US Open (d. Federer).
