Rain has cancelled the remainder of Wednesday’s action at the Tiriac Open, where #NextGenATP 17-year-old Joao Fonseca and Radu Albot played just one game before play was suspended.

At sixth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah, Fonseca is aiming for his fourth tour-level win against Albot, 17 years his senior. The Moldovan qualifier leads 1-0 in the first set.

Fonseca, who was a quarter-finalist at the ATP 500 in his home city Rio de Janeiro, upset sixth seed Lorenzo Sonego 7-6(5), 7-5 in the Bucharest opening round. The teen is looking to continue his breakthrough season this week in hopes of qualifying for the 20-and-under Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF, which runs from 18-22 December in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Alejandro Tabilo earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Arthur Rinderknech and Gregoire Barrere beat Thanasi Kokkinakis 7-5, 6-3 in the only two completed singles matches Wednesday.

On Thursday's card, top seed Francisco Cerundolo, No. 21 in the PIF ATP Rankings, will kickstart his title quest against Federico Coria in an all-Argentine battle. Coria leads 3-2 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series.
