Andy Murray will compete for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in Miami when he returns to action at next week’s ATP Challenger Tour 175 event in Bordeaux, France.
The 36-year-old, who turns 37 next Friday, joins a strong field at the BNP Paribas Primrose, where Murray received a wild card. Fellow Tour veterans Stan Wawrinka and Richard Gasquet will be in Bordeaux action as well as Sebastian Baez, Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Arthur Fils, the three highest-ranked players in the PIF ATP Rankings among the entry list.
Murray last year won a trio of ATP Challenger Tour titles, including the 175 event in Aix-en-Provence, where he defeated top seed Tommy Paul in a three-set final, marking the former No. 1’s first Challenger crown since 2005.
Murray played the Bordeaux Challenger in 2023, but fell to Wawrinka in the opening round, his lone loss across 16 Challenger-level matches last year. A 46-time titlist on the ATP Tour, Murray also was crowned champion at the grass-court Challengers in Surbiton and Nottingham.
